Guided Tours Ateneu Comercial do Porto

The Ateneu Comercial do Porto (ACP) starts on March 12 (Saturday) next to guided tours of its historical and cultural heritage, distributed throughout its facilities, located at 44 Rua de Passos Manuel, in the heart of the city “Invicta ”, in an initiative that gives practical expression to the announced opening of the institution to the community.
The opening day of this new cycle of the 153 years of the ACP's life has an extraordinary attraction, as it will allow visitors to appreciate in loco and live the 1st edition of “Os Lusíadas”, by Luís Vaz de Camões, of which the Ateneu Porto is owner.
The collection of the Ateneu Comercial do Porto also includes an edition of the Holy Bible dating from 1500 and some original writings by Fernão Lopes. The library (40,000 titles and 80,000 volumes) is, in fact, the “crown jewel” of the secular institution of Porto, which is considered one of the best private libraries in the Iberian Peninsula. The valuable heritage extends to painting, sculpture and earthenware, including collections of a numismatic and medalistic nature, of great value.
